Fluency Techniques to Help with Stuttering

The following are some fluency techniques and exercises that may help with stuttering. They are appropriate for adults and, in some cases, school age children.

These techniques are not appropriate for younger children. If you are looking for advice to help with stuttering in children under 6-7 years of age, you should explore the following approaches: Palin Parent-Child Interaction Therapy or the Lidcombe Programme.

Fluency Techniques

Prolonged speech

Continuous phonation

Easy onsets (also known as gentle voice onsets)

Soft contacts (also known as light articulatory contacts)

How to manage speech blocks

Why is it so hard to use speech techniques in real life? How can you learn to do this?

Why do I stutter more in some situations?
